Our History
Matrescence was born from the passionate foundation of our Executive Director’s experience as a Birthworker. Founded under the support of the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center, Matrescence operates as a vibrant force connecting the black community.
With Matrescence, we aim to give mothers access to the care, community and support they deserve.

Imaan Ennis
Founder & Executive Director
Imaan is passionate about servicing and uplifting the black community from preconception and beyond. She prides herself on her ability to be a connector and empower individuals to maximize their potential both in the birth space and in life. As a Georgia native and HBCU graduate, Imaan identified the need to replicate the positive images of Black Community she grew up seeing and experienced as a student of Hampton University.
